Metso to rebuild Stora Enso machine in Kimberly, WI

Metso Paper has been selected as a major supplier for Stora Enso’s rebuild of PM97 coated fine paper machine in Kimberly, WI. The modernization, to improve paper quality and operating speed, will be completed during 2004.

Metso Paper’s delivery will include a headbox, shoe press, pre-coating unit, blow boxes and air systems, and tail threading equipment. Metso Automation will upgrade the mill’s control system to a Metso DNA system. The rebuild is part of Stora Enso North America’s Profit Enhancement Program that includes targeted capital investments of $250 million, announced in August 2002.

In early August, Metso Paper, Inc., Metso Paper USA, Inc. and CEM Machine, Inc. announced an agreement settling the trademark action brought by Metso against CEM in the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.

Under the settlement, CEM has changed its name and agreed to refrain from the use of Metso’s trademark, CARTHAGE, used in association with wood cutting machinery.

Metso manufactures and services CARTHAGE® chippers, re-chippers and parts for use in the pulp and papermaking industry. www.metsopaper.com
