Forest Resources buys Strathcona

Roman Corp. Ltd. of Toronto, ON, said it had sold its Strathcona Paper and Boehmer Box divisions to FR Kitchener LLC, a subsidiary if Forest Resources LLC, in turn a unit of Atlas Holdings LLC.

Strathcona Paper mill is in Napanee, between Kingston and Belleville, ON. The mill has capacity to make about 80 000 tonnes/year of clay-coated boxboard.

Forest Resources makes and sells paper and packaging at 11 facilities across North America. It was formed in 1999 with the acquisition of Hartford City Paper in Indiana, and in 2002 acquired Shillington Box Co., St. Louis, MO. In September 2005, it bought Ivex Protective Packaging Corp. from Alcoa. In the process, it acquired two specialty paper mills, one in Peoria and one in Joliet, IL. As a result, Forest Resources’ capacity grew to 200,000 tons/year of corrugating medium and specialty papers. www.atlasholdingsllc.com. PI
