Several of North America’s top forest products associations appointed new chairmen recently.

James (Jim) A. Shepherd was elected chairman of the board of the Forest Products Assn. of Canada. Shepherd is president and CEO of Canfor Corp.  which bought Slocan Forest ProductsLtd. in 2004 where he held the same positions. Before Slocan he was president and COO of Crestbrook Forest Products Ltd., and president of Finlay Forest Products Ltd.

C. Scott Travers was re-elected chairman of the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada (PAPTAC). Travers is president and COO, Minas Basin Pulp and Power Co., Ltd., Hantsport, NS.

Michael E. “Mike” Case, president and CEO of Gulf States Paper Corp., was elected chairman of the board for the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA). www.fpac.ca, www.paptac.ca, www.afandpa.org. PI
