de la Roche president, CEO of new forest sector research institute

Dr. Ian de la Roche has been appointed president and CEO of the newly created research institute for Canada’s forest sector. As reported in the August issue of Paper Industry (News, p. 4), the asyet-to-be-named entity will bring
together the research programs currently treated separately for pulp and paper (Paprican), forestry (FERIC) and building products (Forintek).

Currently the president and CEO of Forintek Canada Corp. and FERIC, de la Roche has over 30 years of experience in research, research management and strategic planning. His previous positions include assistant deputy minister at Western Economic Diversification and assistant deputy minister at Agriculture Canada.

de la Roche holds a BSc from McGill University and an MSc from the University of Massachusetts. He obtained his doctorate from the University of Illinois. www.paprican.ca, www.feric.ca, www.forintek.ca.
