Fluoro-Coat 200: More than just a roll and dryer coating

For mills that encounter hot melts, recycled stickies and glues, the release characteristics of rolls and dryers are of the utmost importance. Stickies and “pickies” require lengthy cleaning sessions and costly downtime. This time consuming sticky mess is not limited to rolls and dryers, it affects winder pans, glue decks and even places that don’t immediately come to mind – like wash-up sinks.

Fluoron, Inc., Elkton, MD, says it has just the right product: Fluoro-Coat™ 200. Gray in color, Fluoro-Coat 200 is sprayed onto the surface of the equipment and cures at room temperature and is good for continuous service up to 300ºF. It is available in thicknesses ranging from 0.020 to 0.060 in. Two years were devoted to perfecting Fluoro-Coat 200 and as a result says Fluoron, it is the ultimate release product against stickies – not even duct tape will stick.

Fluoron provided quotes from mill superintendents about their experience with Fluoro-Coat:
“I am very happy with Fluoro-Coat 200. We have been able to increase our speed from 2,800 to 3,000 feet per minute and with better quality. We’d like to put Fluoro- Coat 200 on more dryers.”

“This is the first coating in the fly roll position that has actually remained free of build-up. I will be sure and pass the word to all the other superintendents I know with similar problems. Thank you for continuing to supply us.”

“Our pans were constantly plagued with build-up. But since being coated with Fluoro-Coat 200 they’re now maintenance free. We are planning to apply Fluoro-Coat 200 in other positions in the near future.”
