Matrix petcoke system cuts lime-kiln fuel bills

Matrix Engineering PLLC, Paducah, KY, says its petcoke systems are being used to save the costs of using natural gas to fire lime kilns at pulp mills.

Matrix recently signed with Murray State University's Innovation and Commercialization Center to expand the use of petcoke - petroleum coke, which is a waste by-product from petroleum production - in a program designed to expand its customer base.

The State of Kentucky will provide a $500,000 development bond which Matrix will match.

There are Matrix petcoke storage and kiln feed systems at: Georgia-Pacific, Port Hudson, LA; Smurfit-Stone, Hodge, LA; Weyerhaeuser, Valliant, OK, Pine Hill, AL, and Campti, LA. PI
