Appleton completes Ohio expansion
Thermal-paper producer Appleton has completed a $125-million expansion at its West Carrollton, OH, mill. Included were a stateof- the-art coater to produce thermal paper and upgrades to No. 92 paper machine. Appleton is North America's largest producer of thermal paper and, with the expansion, is the only US mill to both produce thermal base stock and coat it to make thermal paper. End-products are point-of-sale receipts and coupons, and labels, tags and tickets. The expansion added 35 to the mill's workforce of 400. The company's other mills are in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and the UK.
