PTS soft sensor for virtual fractionation now available as demo version
Munich, Germany-based Pa - pier technische Stiftung (PTS) says the PTS-SoftMcNett sensor it has developed calculates fiber fractions automatically using the data from image-analysis fiber measurements. The software uses analytical discriminant functions to calculate the fractionation effect of McNett classifiers, taking into account the length, diameter and wall thickness of fibers. PTS says its main advantage is the fast, highly accurate and reproducible calculation of fiber fractions which can eliminate costly, time-consuming manual fractionation tests in the laboratory. The PTS-SoftMcNett is now available as a demo version for free trial on the PTS homepage: http://shpoint.ptspaper.de:8080/ PTS-SoftMcNett. Using virgin pulps (refined/unrefined) and recycled fiber pulps as examples, the demo shows how efficient the virtual fractionation is. The mass shares of calculated McNett fractions and ash contents of recycled fiber pulps are shown in diagrams. PTS will provide a full version free of charge for a limited evaluation period.
