Buckman enzymatic products modify tissue, towel fiber

Memphis, TN-based Buckman Laboratories has announced innovative enzymatic fiber modification products for the creped products industry.

BuckmanÕs Maximyzeª line of fiber modification enzymes offers tissue and towel makers a range of benefits including fiber mix flexibility, refining energy reduction and quality property improvements, such as increased softness, higher bulk to basis weight without tensile loss and over-all strength improvement while maintaining other properties.

The enzymes, new to the tissue industry, function in a unique manner by conditioning fibers prior to refining, giving improved strength characteristics with less applied refining energy and less fines generation. The significant changes in fiber mix, and reduced refining energy and fines, allow tissue manufacturers to reduce costs, improve quality and increase operational efficiency, says Buckman.
