Domtar’s antimicrobial paper is NA first Domtar Inc., has launched what it says is North America’s first antimicrobial office paper. Domtar Antimicrobial Office Paper™ is treated with a silver compound that kills most bacteria – as well as odors, fungus, mold and mildew – on contact and which lasts throughout its shelf life, even after printing and varnishing. The paper – which,
according to Domtar, demonstrates a 99% reduction of MRSA and K. pneumoniae
– is manufactured under license from SilverCo, a developer of antimicrobial
technology. The 92-GE brightness, 20-lb text paper is available in 25-sheet
packages and works with all office equipment from ink-jet and laser printers
to copiers and fax machines.
