OpTest launches new products at EXFOR
OpTest Equipment Inc., Hawkesbury, ON, put two
new products on the market during EXFOR.
- The first, the Print Mottle Analyzer (PMA)
was described in detail in Paper Industry, December 2003, p. 21, Issue
Highlight – Papermaking). The PMA measures print mottle indices or
components and is said to be faster and more precise than visual ranking
techniques.
- The On-Line HiRes version of the Fiber
Quality Analyzer (FQA) was also launched. OpTest says the FQA
simultaneously measures fiber length, width, curl and kink damage as well
as quantifying shives and vessel elements. The non-plugging flow cell
measures difficult pulps of up to 15% consistency. According to the
company, the unit reports the same results as the lab unit and meets or
exceeds the specifications of TAPPI T271; PAPTAC B.4; ISO 16065-1.
Existing FQAs (serial numbers starting with LDA96) can be factory upgraded
to HiRes units.
- OpTest also reported the availability of
upgrades for the Paprican Micro-Scanner. Included are a new solid-state
light ring and Windows 2000/NT operating
systems. PI
