Recent discussions have looked at topics such as a proposal to create standard testing methods for the determination of D65 brightness and the Determination of Color (D65/100). The committee has also put forward a resolution to endorse a review and revision of ISO 9706 which covers paper for documents and the requirements for its permanence. ISO 216 is also up for revision to include North American writing paper dimensions.

ISO/TC6 is also responsible for terminology, sampling procedures, test methods, product and quality specifications and the establishment and maintenance of appropriate calibration systems. The committee also publishes a two-volume handbook and corresponding CD-ROM.

The Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, recently announced the appointment of W. R. Wood as TC6 chairman. He will hold the post for three years as of January 1, 2004. Wood is executive director of the Pulp and Paper Technical Association of Canada and has been associated with the industry’s standardization activities for many years. PI
