AF&PA recycling program recognized In December, The American Forest & Paper Association received a National Recycling Coalition (NRC) 2003 Recycling Works Recognition Award. The award recognizes organizations for their commitment to recycling through national advocacy and leadership. “I am delighted that the NRC is recognizing the hard work of AF&PA and its member companies to increase awareness about paper recovery and recycling,” said AF&PA president and CEO W. Henson Moore. “AF&PA and its member companies are working to grow a high-quality recovered paper supply by employing aggressive initiatives and partnerships that build on and improve the recycling habits in schools, in workplaces and in the home.” AF&PA received the award for increasing its paper recovery goal from 50 to 55% of all paper consumed in the US by 2012. AF&PA has a campaign designed to encourage households, schools and businesses across the country to separate more paper from the waste stream and to increase public awareness about paper recycling though public education out-reach programs and strategic partnerships with the Environmental Protection Agency and Keep America Beautiful. The NRC is a not-for-profit organization
dedicated to the advancement and improvement of recycling, and also source
reduction, composting and reuse by providing technical information,
education, training, outreach and advocacy services to its members in order
to conserve resources and benefit the environment. |
