Pick offers new desuperheater

West Bend, WI-based Pick Heaters, Inc. says the water spray design of its Series D desuperheater offers a simple, cost effective method of desuperheating steam. With the nozzle positioned at the center of the desuperheater, water is sprayed axially, in the direction of the steam flow. A conical insert with thermal sleeve increases velocity to promote rapid absorption of water, while isolating the housing from thermal stress.

The unit is intended for use in applications with relatively stable steam demand, typically within a 2:1 or 3:1 turndown ratio. Features include easy installation, low pressure drop and no moving parts. The Series D is available in a variety of materials and pressure ratings and can be supplied with cooling water valve and temperature control instrumentation.
