Kimber to expand Kimberly-Clark de Mexico SA de CV will start operations in its new plant in Coahuila in 4Q07 to increase tissue production by 8%, says a report from Reuter. Kimber will spend about $75 million at the Ramos Arizpe plant as part of a $350-million expansion plan announced earlier this year. A $50-million project at a plant in Tlaxcala will give Kimber local production of raw material for wipes starting in 2Q08. Last September, Kimber signed an agreement worth $434 million with a trust whose settlers are Impulso de Desarrollos Estrategicos SA de CV and Eton Park Fund to transfer certain of its assets to a new entity called Controladora Celulosa Papelero SAPI de CV. The assets included Kimber’s industrial products division and are those required for the production and sale of writing and printing papers, cigarette papers and notebooks, as well as wood and bagasse pulp. The trust holds 60% of CPP and Kimber 40%. Crisoba Industrial SA de CV is a Kimber subsidiary.
