Gaithersburg, MD-based GXS, a provider of business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce solutions, will supply its GXS Application Integrator(SM) to help Asia Pulp & Paper China (APP China), a division of Sinar Mas Paper (China) Investment Co. Ltd., facilitate worldwide trading partner ecommerce efforts.

APP China, the largest pulp and paper producer in China, has 14 manufacturing facilities and more than 20,000 employees in China. The whole APP group, with over 25 manufacturing facilities and 75,000 employees worldwide, is the second largest pulp and paper manufacturer in Asia-Pacific and seventh largest worldwide. Its combined pulp, paper and packaging capacities in Indonesia amount to 6.9 million tonnes, using fiber from plantations and degraded forests.

Although APP China automated its back-office business systems through SAP, it still was manually processing purchase orders from its 1,000 business partners worldwide. By integrating GXS Application Integrator directly with its SAP system, APP China can automate the exchange of data with its partners.

GSX says that over 600 customers in 35 countries have chosen its Application Integrator for its "unparalleled data translation speed and volume, as well as its ability to translate data from "any-to-any" format". Its flexibility will let APP China meet constantly changing customer needs and B2B standard requirements, including XML, RosettaNet, HIPAA, AS2 and SFTP.

APP China is also using GXS Community Link to automate trading relationships with current and future trading partners.
