Kingsey Falls, QC-based Cascades has integrated its North American boxboard operations with its Norampac containerboard operations. Apart from certain synergies, says Cascades, the integration will enhance the sharing of technology while creating a larger packaging group better able to respond to customer needs in Canada and the US.

The North American Boxboard group includes four coated boxboard mills and 12 converting plants, and employs 2,950 employees. Following the consolidation, Norampac, currently Canada's largest containerboard manufacturer, will have about 50 manufacturing and converting units and over 7,560 employees in the packaging sector.

N either the management of the Dopaco converting activities for the quick-service restaurant industry nor the European boxboard activities will be affected by the changes.
