New DODGE® Bearing Offers Increased Performance, Cuts Maintenance Costs, & Lowers Inventory Costs There’s a new choice for papermakers who want a solution to the vibration issues and shaft damage caused by setscrew and eccentric collar styles of ball bearings. The new DODGE® GRIP TIGHT™ Adapter ball bearing offers an easy-on/easy-off solution for reduced vibration, damage-free shafting, and greater inventory savings. The new bearing features an adapter that is press-fit to the shaft for full concentric contact (360° through the length of the bearing), which reduces system vibration. This also helps eliminate fretting corrosion and prevents shaft damage. Specifically designed to run at higher speeds and operate cooler for longer grease life, the GRIP TIGHT Adapter ball bearing also features PROGUARD® PLUS seals with flingers, which keep lubricants in and contaminants out. And, with the patent-pending pull/push adapter system, the GRIP TIGHT can be installed or removed quickly with no special assembly tools needed. Mills can also save on inventory costs by switching to the GRIP TIGHT Adapter ball bearing. Rather than stock a complete line of traditional housings with bearings, with GRIP TIGHT, the housing assemblies and the bore-specific adapters can be purchased separately. Each GRIP TIGHT housing unit has been designed to accept multiple bore-size adapters, reducing inventory risk while allowing greater inventory flexibility. The GRIP TIGHT Adapter ball bearing is manufactured in standard bearing-grade steel, with rugged cast-iron housings. It is shaft-ready right out of the box and offered in normal and medium duty with shaft diameters of 1/2-inch to 3-1/2-inch and 17 mm to 85 mm. Available housings include pillow block; tapped base; two-, three-, and four-bolt flange; piloted flange; and take-up. |
